Nokia 8 sirocco launchedOn Sunday 25th of Feb at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2018 in Barcelona, where all the world’s leading phone manufacturers displayed their latest innovations, HMD Global, the Finnish company that now makes Nokia-branded phones, launched many high-end smartphones, including their brand new splendid flagship phone -the Nokia 8 Sirocco.

Nokia 8 Sirocco Ultra Compact Android Smartphone Launched

Nokia’s prime offering this year is pitched as a special edition to its flagship for last year, the Nokia 8, which marked its revival in the smartphone market. In spite of being an overall hit, the phone wasn’t as extraordinary as its upgraded variant, the Nokia 8 sirocco, launched one year later, seems to be. With a top-notch, classy look, and remarkable design changes, this iterative upgrade, looks and feels like a whole new class of premium and is bound to attract all the fans and flagship fiends.

Combining the strength of a stainless-steel frame with the sophistication of an all-glass design, the Nokia 8 sirocco is both a solid phone and an exceptional beauty to look at. Bearing an eye-catching, futuristic look, the body is made 95% out of vacuum molded, curved Gorilla Glass 5. That other five percent being the dual-diamond polished, stainless steel chassis carved out of a single block of stainless steel. The Curved-edges with glossy black finish add to the ultra-slim profile and give it an elegant, ultra-compact style.

While looks might be the significant discriminator here, the Sirocco edition has some smart changes on the specifications side too. Yes, we still have the Snapdragon 835 CPU lying at the heart of Nokia 8 Sirocco, but almost everything else in the device, including the display, storage, optics, and acoustics, has been upgraded. Compared to Nokia 8’s 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage space, the Nokia 8 Sirocco features 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Another improvement is that the Sirocco edition has joined the Android One family and now has IP67 water and Dust-proof rating. It now also supports wireless charging and has a slightly bigger battery capacity of 3,260mAh (that will fast-charge to 50 percent in 30 minutes). While these are some encouraging additions, on the other hand, there has also been a rather unwelcome elimination of the headphone jack on the Nokia 8 Sirocco and the front camera that could have been better stayed the standard 5MP.

Overall the phone looks promising and although not cheap, is comparatively affordable as compared to similar ones from other competitors. The overall cost is not extravagant for a flagship phone but might look a bit too much for people who prefer spending their money for latest bleeding-edge technology rather than an impressive design.

AVAILABILITY:

Scheduled to be released in early April 2018, Nokia 8 Sirocco will be available for the average global retail of €749 ($921) worldwide.
